Nara Meizhi likes reading comics very much, and almost all the comics brought back by her brother every week are wiped out. However, I didn't copy the comics myself. After school, instead, I locked myself in my room and used pencils to draw 'fantasy drawings'. Yoshitomo Nara's first album in his life was the single for the theme song of the TV drama "The Wild Sun" at that time. He also started listening to his brother's record 'Chicago'. After Nara was promoted to junior high school, he participated in club activities of the news agency in order to become a "flag bearer for anti system". Afterwards, due to the large gap between ideals and reality, I soon withdrew from the club. Afterwards, he entered the judo society due to his longing for the TV drama "Judo Line". Yoshitomo Nara became obsessed with rock music during his junior high school years, with Western musicians such as John Simon, Tony Kosnik, David Bowie, and others having the most exposure. At that time, the album cover laid the foundation for his concept of imagery. At that time, a LP envelope in Santana deeply impressed Yoshitomo Nara and was even more surprised to learn that it was the work of Japanese designer Tadao Yoko. Nara was clearly influenced by Japanese manga and animation, and traces can be found in his works: using smooth colored crayons, comic style lines, or surfaces to create innocent looking young girls and pet like animals. However, he added a sense of cynicism to his work and shattered their innocence by depicting them carrying weapons such as knives or guns. Nara's signature characters are big headed children, white and docile dogs, and children dressed in sheep clothing, which are very cute; The creative materials include large acrylic paintings as well as three-dimensional multimedia or ceramic sculptures. The characters in Nara's works, with their eyes hanging from the end and malicious eyes, are actually the true signature of his works. The protagonists in the painting, who have an unfriendly expression in their eyes that says' What are you looking at? You mind me! 'but are also in a lonely and indifferent background, make people reluctant to turn their eyes away at the sight. The mischievous eyes hanging from the end of their faces sometimes depict a child holding a knife in their hand, sometimes with a bandage tied to their head or a bloody nail inserted, or with dogs closing their eyes and constantly shedding tears. The expression of the injured animal's desire to speak and stop seems to move something in their heart, which is very different from pure cuteness. Adult audiences often accuse Nara's dolls of having outrageous eyes, leading them to view Nara dolls as aggressive individuals. Actually, Yoshitomo Nara himself did not want his paintings to turn out like this. He explained that the dolls in the painting are just children holding toy weapons, so they should not be aggressive people. In this way, after arousing the hostility of adults, the characters are actually reversed. These adults surround children with evil images, but instead seem to hold stronger weapons. Yoshitomo Nara's works are deeply loved by the public and have also gained international attention. Many of Nara's works have been purchased by art museums as collections of modern Japanese art.
