Andy Warhol (August 6, 1928-February 22, 1987), translated as Andy Warhol in the Hong Kong and Taiwan regions, is known as one of the most famous figures in the 20th century art world, an advocate and leader of pop art, and the artist who has the greatest influence on pop art. He boldly tried various replication techniques such as letterpress printing, rubber or wood rubbing, gold foil technology, and photo projection.
In addition to being a leader in pop art, Warhol is also a film producer, writer, rock composer, publisher, and a star like artist in the New York social and artistic circles. In 2014, the portrait of Mao Zedong was auctioned off in the UK for a high price of 7.6 million pounds (approximately RMB 76.63 million).
Andy Warhol, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, is a descendant of Czech immigrants who grew up in a slum. At that time, during the Great Depression of the 1930s, food shortages were a common occurrence.
When he was a child, Warhol experienced three mental collapses, a neurological disorder called "rheumatic chorea" that occurred during the summer of 1936, 1937, and 1938. In those summers, he spent his days lying in bed with his door closed, listening to the radio, holding dolls, and cutting paper dolls. Sensitivity gradually became a lingering point of inferiority for him, as he always felt unwelcome among his peers and no one would confide in him. Fortunately, his mother gave him a lot of care and occasionally found colorful magazines and comics, which invisibly influenced his future works. Warhol likes to paint, and whenever he completes a good painting, his mother rewards him with a chocolate bar and encourages him to color it. I studied at the Carnegie Institute of Technology (predecessor of Carnegie Mellon University).
